Is yoga just for the “hippy”, hippy, hippy, hippy, hippy bohemians? Or is it a mainstream form of exercise that just anyone can do? Yoga is gaining popularity in the mainstream. With that popularity, there’s also an increasing number of yoga studios popping up in almost every major city, and yoga classes becoming more and more accessible to people who don’t have the time or money to go on retreats, which is where many people learn the practice.
In the mid 20th century, yoga became a global phenomenon and gained an enormous amount of popularity in the Western world. This gained popularity because of the practice of yoga, which is a body of postures, movements, breathing exercises, and meditations. Yoga is also an integral part of the practice of meditation, which is the ability to reach a state of deep relaxation.
Yoga has been around for millennia. People have been practicing yoga for thousands of years in India, China, Tibet, and other cultures. It is a worldwide practice used for both physical and mental health benefits. There is no one single definition of yoga. Yoga is many things to many people. The most common definition of yoga is the physical technique of stretching. There are many different types of yoga, a few include: Hatha, Kundalini, Vinyasa, Anusara, and Yin.
Yoga has had a significant impact on my life in a variety of ways. So here’s my little tribute to yoga and its beauty, as well as the wonders it has done and continues to do for my mind, body, and spirit:
Yoga is more than just a set of exercises; it is a way of life.
Through a sequence of exercises, a way of life stressing what is essential; humility, grace, compassion, breathe, respecting your body, hope, transformation, and quiet. The motions are the conduits that transport this belief system throughout the whole body.
Yoga helps you stay grounded during difficult times, rejoices with you during happy moments, and heals you during sad times. It’s a buddy you can rely on at all times. It’s a location where you always feel at home. When you need quiet, it’s a moment of silence; when you need boosting, it’s a location of vitality.
Yoga is the most effective therapist I’ve ever met. You are also strengthening your body while receiving all of these spiritual advantages. Yoga transforms your body into a reflection of how it makes your mind feel.
It’s the greatest cure to the madness of the world. I’m not sure how anybody manages to get by without it.
Yoga helps me to be more focused. It enables me to come to a halt and live in the present moment, breath by breath. It gives me power when I don’t feel like I have any. It allows me to get affection from the most important person in my life: myself. It establishes a link between me and my God.
Yoga is similar to a medication with no negative side effects. It’s something you want to tell your friends, family, and strangers about; you want to spread the word about the therapeutic advantages. Yoga is a time-released medication that keeps you feeling wonderful long after you’ve said your last Namaste.

For me, yoga means the ability to let go of myself and do what I can in the moment, instead of worrying about how I look, or how others see me, or what I hope they say about me. I used to feel guilty for not striving to be perfect, but now I am learning that, as I continue to practice and grow, I am able to let go of the need to be perfect, and focus on who I am right here, right now, and who I want to be..
