From the moment you see Alala‘s edgy silhouettes and creative use of dark modern fabrics, you’ll know that this New York brand designs pieces specifically with active urbanites in mind. I first discovered Alala, Greek for warrior goddess, last year and keep coming back for quality and functionality.
I appreciate how each jacket has legitimately functional features for winter fitness use, like deep pockets, sturdy drawstrings, cropped sweatshirts for greater mobility and high collars for wind protection. Aside from the occasional silver jacket or maroon sweater, this collection is primarily black items served up with a heavy dose of pattern play and textures. That means these pieces will work well with any of your patterned leggings or and tops, and perhaps deceive some into thinking you’re not in activewear at all. When the frigid air rolls in, you can find me sporting Alala’s sweatshirts while teaching early morning bootcamp classes (so cozy), and sprinting off to pilates in their structured jackets that make my ensemble chic with the right amount of street. Currently, Alala is having a 20% sitewide sale. Trust me, you won’t want to miss out on the perfect piece of outerwear this fall.
